Capeboatworks is currently developing some new designs to compliment our existing range of craft. 

We really love the Strip Plank method for boat building.  Quality Marine Plywood such as Gaboon is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. We are purchasing ply from different suppliers to find the best product for the job.

Going forward, Capeboatworks is interested in Strip Plank designs for Kayaks, Dinghies and other craft.  Strip Planking is more 'Environmentally' friendly as we source Plantation timbers. We use Paulownia locally grown timber. Sure, it takes a little longer to build but it's not at all difficult. We have developed a strip kayak by local designers, John & David Slattery from Australis Canoes & Kayaks it is designed from their popular Salamander. They have one under construction and one finished all stripped in Paulownia making the the weight less than 20kilo for 18' of Kayak.

We have cut a material kit for a River Dory Drift boat for a client. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
